People want to do great work and be part of the vision, mission and dream of an organization.
If I’ve learned anything over the course of my career it’s that people want to do great work and be part of the vision, mission and dream of an organization and that this can be achieved through the right systems, infrastructure and culture – which is exactly what I’m here to help you create.
When you choose to work with Life Works Well, you get an employment lawyer, human resources professional and business consultant – all rolled into one. I rely on a team of experts when required to offer a full suite of consultative services as well as delivery of the workshops described below.
While I have – and can – work with businesses of all sizes, my ‘sweet spot’ is newer/growing businesses (of 30 to 50ish employees) who understand the importance of culture, see the value in their people and want to get it right the first time.
Since every business is different and has different needs, packages, retainers and projects are completely custom. That said, whether you’re looking to put some simple policies in writing or want full support to create and execute a robust long-term people strategy, the initial stages of a working relationship are more-or-less the same:
Step 1: Consultation
First, we connect by phone. This is a complimentary opportunity to ask questions, get a high-level idea of what’s possible and assess our fit. (You can schedule a consultation right here.)
Step 2: HR Health Check
If you choose to take the next step towards working together, we’ll start with an ‘HR Health Check’ to determine your starting point. I’ll meet with a member of your leadership team to understand your culture and any HR programs, policies, training and/or practices you have in place.
Step 3: Recommendations
Based on your HR Health Check I will identify your gaps and opportunities and provide a recommended HR strategy to address them. Items that may be creating legal risks and/or compliance exposure will be prioritized.
From there – and if desired – we can discuss how I can help you address these opportunities which may include some of the standard options and packages below.
Must-Have HR Policy AND PROGRAM Package
This package includes the 15 must-have HR policy and programs that every growing business should have (many of which are legally mandated). The content and branding will be adjusted to fit your culture and align to your employer brand.
Interim HR Management
If your company does not yet have an HR business partner but needs help to build out an HR strategy, implement must-haves and – if desired – help you hire the right HR team member, we can help.
Training and Development
We offer a number of programs designed to help your employees grow and develop. From mandatory harassment and respect in the workplace to life/work integration or management mentoring and coaching programs, we have a wide variety of options that can be customized to suit your needs, culture and environment.
On-Call HR & Legal Advice
This is the HR & legal equivalent of a ‘phone a friend’ lifeline. For a reasonable hourly, monthly, or annual fee, you’ll have direct access to me for answers, guidance and advice on an as-needed basis – at a fraction of what you’d pay a big downtown law firm.
Whatever your needs or starting point, I’d be delighted to help you shape – and execute – a people plan that supports your business plan. Click here to book a complimentary consultation where we can discuss your needs, answer your questions and assess our fit.
I have worked with and known Helen for over 15 years and she has an ability to create innovative and leading-edge HR strategy coupled with amazing attention to detail. For that reason, she is unlike many other policy, program and culture creators. I'd highly recommend Helen to any leaders who want someone they can trust to move their organizations into the 21st century.
